The Ovulation Calculator will tell you when you are releasing an egg each month (also known as ovulating), and therefore when you are most fertile. For the best chances of conceiving you should be having sexual intercourse on these days.

OVULATION CALCULATOR

There are only a few days each menstrual cycle when conception is actually possible! These most fertile days occur when your body is undergoing ovulation. So becoming pregnant may simply be a matter of good timing to begin with and our Ovulation Calculator may help you get this timing right.

To use this Ovulation Calculator, you need to be able to provide three pieces of information:

  1. When was the first day of your last menstrual cycle? - This is the day your last period stopped.
  2. How many days in your menstrual cycle – Measured from the first day of your cycle to the first day of your next cycle.
  3. The number of days in your luteal phase – This is the latter phase of your menstrual cycle starting from ovulation and ending on the first day of your next cycle. While the amount of time before ovulation can vary widely each month, the time after ovulation to the end of your cycle is usually fairly constant and unless you have a health problem that affects your periods or you become pregnant, this phase will be 14 to 16 days. If you are not sure about the length of your luteal phase, you can assume it is 14 days (the average length for most women).

Once you have entered your information into the ovulation calculator above, your personalised fertility calendar will show your most fertile days. Shop online at www.fertilitystore.ie to purchaseovulation tests, pregnancy tests and all products needed when trying for a baby.

What is Ovulation? Q & A

Stat’s recently released by the CSO indicate that the age profile of natural female fertility in Ireland rapidly declines as we age. Figures show that women in their 30’s have a 90% chance of conception and as we approach our 40’s that figure falls to 40% and by the age of 45 our ability to conceive  falls significantly to 1.5%. So if your about to embark on the ‘trying-to-conceive’ journey, you will be fully aware of the vital need to track your ovulation cycle. But what is ovulation? How do i know when I’m ovulating and how do I track it?

Ovulation signals that your body is ready for conception. Once a month a mature egg is released from the ovary, where it lies in wait ready for fertilisation. This is your ‘window of opportunity’ and the best time to focus your efforts on trying-to-conceive. However, it can prove tricky as a female’s ovulation cycle can change on a monthly basis, making it difficult to predict, that’s why we have our ‘Ovulation Calculator’ to do all the hard math for you, but if your a lover of all things traditional try the fertilitystore.ie’s ‘Pregnancy & Ovulation Calendar Wheel’ .

Of course there are Ovulation Predictor KitsFertility Monitors and plain old mathematical equations in determining when you ovulate, but your body can also provide clues, that your fertility window is imminent, from hormonal upheaval and one sided backaches to the consistency of your cervical mucus. Cervical mucus around the time of ovulation becomes clear, slippery and stretchy, if you can stretch the mucus about three inches between your fingers without it breaking, ovulation is imminent! Our bodies really are full of surprises!
